My daughter moved to Wings Care – Cherry Cottage in November 2014. I cannot believe how much she has improved since then. She has visited so many places since her arrival there, cinemas, museums, pool/snooker hall, swimming pool, shops to buy new clothes, she has thoroughly enjoyed herself. She invited my husband and myself for lunch in her apartment. The staff have been wonderful with her, taking her to buy ingredients for her meals, always making sure that the meals are healthy, but with sufficient treats. The property is well-designed giving her plenty of room. Her bedroom has a 4ft wide bed which she has always been used to. I cannot find fault with the staff or accommodation.
The staff have catered for her individual needs. They are pacing her activities as her condition improves. After seeing my sister going through a very difficult time it is a great relief to see her improving so quickly at Cherry Cottage. The staff are lovely. The accommodation is great, she has her own space and can mix with others when she wants to in the rest of the house. The team also help with planning her visits to her family. Two carers accompanied her to a family 80th party. My sister is now using public transport with help from her carers. Her mental and physical health are improving.
After visiting Cherry Cottage for a cup of coffee, I was blown away by the excellent standard of accommodation. The staff were very welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the activities on offer. The service was clean, spacious and homely – it’s a refreshing change to see such lovely, modern apartments in service for people with Learning Disabilities. Charlotte and her staff team came across as extremely professional and passionate about caring for vulnerable people.
